About Riverport Chorus

Riverport Chorus is a membership organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun. We currently have many singers of all ages, all walks of life, and all parts of Southeastern Wisconsin and Northeastern Illinois.

Performance

The main purpose of Riverport Chorus is to delight in the joy of singing four-part a cappella barbershop harmony. We love to get out and sing for our community. We sing at annual shows, community events, and at an annual competition.  We may be available to sing at your next function or event. Education

In addition to sharing our music with others, we have a  great passion to learn more about the art of a cappella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. A few times a year, we will hire coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop, where we learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.

CompetitionIn the spring of every year, Riverport Chorus participates in the Region 3 chorus competition. The competition is held in different cities in the region with a new location every other year. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other, and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the Regional Competition in both quartet and chorus categories travel to International Competition, which is held in the fall in a city selected each year.  Click here to learn more.

Quartets

Most choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets or small ensembles in addition to singing with the chorus. Riverport Chorus currently is home to a number of wonderful quartets, and we are very proud of them! Click here to see our quartet section to learn more about them.

Affiliation

Riverport Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines, International, a non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
